WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader
Upgrades give you boosts in specific statistics. Each upgrade increases item level by +3. A random extra substat is also added to each upgrade.
Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless it is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect model.
Recycle Points
The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enchantments.
The upgrader is located in every major city, and is accessible anytime to upgrade your equipment. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each several weeks.
The cost of upgrading will be based on the current item level of the equipment being upgraded however, they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. If you purchase a similar item, it will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are useful items that can be used to upgrade weapons, tools, armor, and accessories. They can be purchased by players from item upgrade rs NPCs in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be used on any weapon or tool using an button, which will display a preview of the item at the next upgrade level if the player has sufficient materials.
Upgrade costs differ based on the item slot, and the current level of the item. For example, weapons will cost more than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades give a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain level, it can be degraded and sold back to the upgrader for a lesser amount of the two currencies.
A lot of locations offer upgraders for items in addition to the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases according to the number of items being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.
Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II is no upgrader for items available in the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who can facilitate upgrades are available only via a variety of ways. This is both a benefit and an issue.
In Season 3, many new features were added to the upgrade system. Once a player obtains an upgrade to a specific level of an item for a specific armor slot, upgrading further items to that level will be less expensive, even if they belong to another set of gear.
The amount of Valorstones required to upgrade is reduced and the discount is account-wide. The amount of Harbinger Crests required to upgrade is cut too, but it is only available after certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
Players have a variety of options for upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific, and are used during specific upgrades to the level of an item. Crests are an essential part of the Dragonflight gear progression system introduced in 10.1 and are available in four ranks.
First, you should know that crests are only available for gear of a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The simplest and most straightforward upgrade process costs just 15 crests while the more complex one can require as much as 20 crests based on the type of gear being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by completing content at the appropriate level. This could be by engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in any difficulty to earn lower-tier gear or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons with heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken, for the appropriate upgrade paths and steps.
The new currency system isn't too difficult to use, however it will bring some changes to the upgrade process. When a piece reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to get their equipment to the highest ilvl possible for all their characters rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's best to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment you have, and then save Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to create. This is especially relevant for rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character which will only be able to take advantage of the account-wide discount if all slots are full of high-quality gear.
